About the Role

We are seeking an experienced B2 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) with Bell 412/212 experience to join an established aviation operator supporting regional and remote operations across Papua New Guinea.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced helicopter avionics engineer to work in a dynamic operational environment, supporting line and base maintenance activities while playing a key role in maintaining aircraft safety, airworthiness and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and certify scheduled and unscheduled avionics and electrical maintenance on Bell 412/212 helicopters.

• Conduct inspections, defect identification, troubleshooting and rectification of avionics systems.

• Diagnose and rectify faults across aircraft communication, navigation, instrumentation and electrical systems.

• Carry out functional checks and operational testing of aircraft avionics systems.

• Troubleshoot and maintain aircraft wiring, electrical distribution and associated systems.

• Maintain and troubleshoot communication and navigation equipment.

• Support maintenance of flight instruments, flight displays and associated systems.

• Interpret and utilise applicable AMM, WDM, FIM, IPC, service bulletins and other approved technical publications.

• Read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.

• Use appropriate avionics test equipment and specialist tooling to diagnose system faults.

• Certify completed maintenance and release aircraft to service within licence and company authorisations.

• Complete maintenance documentation, technical records and certification accurately and progressively.

• Support aircraft defect management and troubleshooting to minimise aircraft downtime.

• Supervise and provide technical guidance to avionics technicians and maintenance personnel where required.

• Support line and base maintenance operations across PNG.

• Ensure all maintenance is performed using approved tooling, test equipment, procedures and technical data.

• Maintain high standards of FOD prevention, housekeeping and workplace safety.

• Liaise with Flight Operations, Engineering, Maintenance Control and other operational stakeholders.

• Provide technical input into maintenance planning and aircraft reliability.

• Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable PNG aviation regulations, Part 145 requirements and company procedures.

• Promote a strong safety, quality and human factors culture.

Essential Requirements

• Current B2 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) licence.

• Bell 412 and/or Bell 212 type rating with relevant maintenance approvals.

• Minimum 5 years' helicopter avionics maintenance experience, with significant Bell 412/212 experience.

• Demonstrated experience performing and certifying avionics maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of helicopter avionics, electrical, communication, navigation and instrumentation systems.

• Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.

• Ability to read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.

• Experience using avionics test equipment and specialist tooling.

• Ability to interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and technical documentation.

• Experience working within a Part 145 or equivalent approved maintenance environment.

• Strong understanding of aviation safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and effectively within a small engineering team.

• Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging operational environments.

• Current Human Factors training.

• Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate PNG licence validation or authorisation.

Desirable

• Experience on both Bell 412 and Bell 212.

• Previous experience working in Papua New Guinea or other remote/international operations.

• Experience in utility, charter, offshore, mining or remote-area helicopter operations.

• Experience with avionics modifications, upgrades and service bulletins.

• Additional B1.3 licence or mechanical experience.

• Previous experience as a Senior B2 LAME, Lead Engineer or Base Engineer.

• Experience mentoring and supervising avionics technicians and junior engineers.

• Previous FIFO/touring experience.

• Familiarity with electronic maintenance and technical records systems.
